The Orpheus Singers is an accomplished chamber choir dedicated to the performance of complex and less familiar works spanning six centuries. In the twenty-four years since its founding, the group has distinguished itself in several competitions. Under the baton of Peter Schubert, the ensemble has been a finalist five times in the chamber music category of the CBC National Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs (1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2004), winning first prize in 1996 in the Chamber Choir category, and second prize in 2004 in the Contemporary category. In 2004, the group’s charitable activities include benefit concerts for the Museum of Fine Arts and Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Laval.

As part of The Orpheus Singers' mandate to promote deserving but lesser known music, the ensemble has premiered works by such composers as Anne Lauber, Jacques Faubert, Bengt Hambraeus, Bob Beart, Suzanne Tremblay, and David Scott Lytle, and has participated in the production of a CD of the musical works of Friedrich Nietzsche.
