Orthodox Light: Sacred music and carols

Christmas Concert 2008
Come into the Light! Experience the joyous sounds of sacred Orthodox music and carols. This a cappella choir concert, by the prize-winning Orpheus Singers, directed by Peter Schubert, is a true celebration of various Orthodox musical traditions: from 18th century Ukrainian composer, Dmitri Bortniansky to the great 19th century Russian composers Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, to the Byzantine music of the New World by Vassilis Hadjinicolau. The programme also includes ancient Serbian chant and the beautifully haunting sounds of the 20th century music of Arvo Pärt and Lesia Dychko. So whether is it music from Russia, Greece, Serbia, Ukraine, Estonia or the New World, with these jewels from the Christian East, you will surely be enlightened.
